Default Satellite Receiver Question with Bell

Quick question, hopefully someone can help.

I am an existing BEV customer in Calgary. I have a vacation property in Kelowna, with no cable or internet. I want to have everything on one bill, cable and internet, for both properties.

Telus said I have to have 2 separate accounts, and essentially pay the same amount for both houses. I would be paying about $160/month.

I called Bell, and they said the same thing. Now I could have sworn at one point you could activate an out of town receiver with Bell, and run it at no extra charge. Is that the case? Anyone do that? Can I do the same with internet?

Anyone want to reccommend an option to me?

Can't you activate your second bell receiver as if it was in your own house ??

I'm not sure about internet...

How it works, or at least it use to, is that you would have to tell them the serial number for the Kelowna property and they deactivate the receivers in Calgary and allow the Kelowna one to be running while you are there, and vise-versa. So they allow it but they don't want both addresses to have active receivers at the same time.

The other option is to just install the dish/receiver in Kelowna and just activate it as it was in Calgary. They do run checks through their system to see where a certain signal is going but it would be ####y luck if they caught you and if they did you could play dumb. If I'm being honest I have done this for about 6 years with a buddy across the city, so chances are slim fo them to catch on.

Internet I have no idea.

Sometime about 6 years ago the cable companies complained to the CRTC that being able to do that was unfair competition. So technically you are not allowed to do that any more. However I know a number of people with cottages who still do it.

For internet; you could get a mobile stick. However I found the speed to be somewhat lacking.

There is the option of just setting up a receiver in your other house and using the same account. Its really not on the up and up but I've gone away for the summer and taken a receiver with me and used it with no problem...

Again, it's not technically within their rules but when I asked a tech at bell about using a receiver in a camper/houseboat he said there is a fee/account issue, all the while implying just to use one from my residence as they would be non the wiser.

Take that for what it's worth....

As for Internet, I have no ideas, I'm strictly talking tv.
