This one is for the mechanics by trade or by hobby.

The muffler on my wife's car is loose and you can hear it rattling. The exhaust pipe is hanging low and is loose. Is this an easy fix? Is it something I can do myself or am I better off taking it to a mechanic?

The car is a '92 Pontiac Sunbird (or is it sunfire?... the less sportier of the two, but they'r probably the same or very close)

Come on now. Every self respecting man knows the physical capabilies of duct tape, chicken wire and muffler tape.

Or you could pay $100 and have a new one put on.

If it's just loose and hanging, and nothing has come apart, then you can just wire it up or go to canuck tire and get a new exhaust hanger.

Or if you do reside in lethbridge (according to your profile), the minute muffler on 3rd ave is really good.

Yeah, they're really good at being crooks. At least when it comes to breaks. I took my car in to get the breaks checked and they told me that every single part on the front and rear breaks needed to be fixed. The guy showed my everything, and I thought, ok, I'm not an expert I'll believe him.

About a year later I took my wife's car in to have the breaks checked and I was told the same thing. I decided to get a second opinion, they told me that the breaks will be going any moment now, I risked it, took it to another place and only had to get breakpads on the front and they had to grind the discs. So I'll never go to minute muffler again.

Do you know anything about 1 Stop Auto? They're close to where I work and I thought it would be convenient to drop the car off there and walk to work.

Sorry, don't know much about 1 stop auto....
Sorry to hear about your experience at minute muffler... I do my own brakes and wouldn't go there for that, but they were good with exhaust. Had my entire system replaced from the headers back (cat and all) for only $250. That's not bad.
