Default So like..Say I wanted to know why a user got banned...

Can I? Who's ass do I have to kiss?

I looked through the guidelines and didn't see anything that said we COULDN'T ask... But that's different than being allowed to know.

And just to clarify, I really, really want to know.

Hey I may not be allowed to know, but given that it's not yet answered anywhere (that I can find) it's a reasonable enough question.

You can ask, we just won't say much.. it's usually a private matter IMO, talking about it in public without the banned person being able to come and defend themselves just doesn't seem fair IMO.

Most bannings that aren't obviously based on a single event are typically based on a "body of work", a general pattern undesirable posts or a large # of accumulated infractions without any indication of change of behaviour.

There have been a fair amount of bannings recently it seems. I'd only be guessing but that damn Canucks thread is proabably at least somewhat to blame. People just can't seem to talk about that stuff civily.

That's what I usually do if it isn't an obvious troll (or Jets fan).

I do it just to see the epic meltdown. Unfortunately, those posts usually seem to get purged during the banning.

The strange ones are the users who have been around for a while and are generally decent posters, who one day have "Lifetime Suspension" under their name. Then, you go and look at their posting history and don't see anything out of the ordinary. I always wonder what I missed.
