Toronto's Current Situation.
2010 – 2011 Season for Toronto
The Toronto Maple Leafs after being in the league for a while decided it was important to let the league know the direction and current stance we are in. The Leafs are done for the season and aren’t going to win the President’s trophy next season (at least we don’t plan to). We are looking for youth and potential.
In the meantime, we understand this is a cap league and salary cap is valued by teams that are contending. We were willing to take on big contracts but give us a good reason to do so if the player isn’t very good/ we are not excited in acquiring him. Which means, give us a pick or an ECHLer or another asset. If such is not the case, well we are willing to wait till teams are more desperate.
We tried to come into this league with a balanced approach where we tried to build a team with veterans and youth. However, recently the team has switched gears and no longer want to acquire more veterans as we feel we have enough veterans already for the direction we want to go in. All our veterans can be dealt for players that fit or we like (youth/potential).
Our Current NHL team for next season
Forwards - Steve Sullivan, MacArthur, Bouchard, Bergfors, Wheeler, Puliot, Stalberg, Winnik, Mackenzie, K.Wilson, Dorsett, Gerbe, Orr.
Defencemen – Zidlicky, Franson, Brookbank, O Donnell, R.Wilson, Witt, Harrold.
Goaltending – Neuvirth, Dipietro
Our All prospect line up
Forwards – Emerson Etem, David Gilbert, Philip- Michael Devos, Gabriel Levesque, Michael Sgarbossa, Andy Andreoff, Ben Smith, Maxim Mayorov.
Defencemen – Marc Andre Bourdon, T.J Brennan, Justin Falk, Brett Flemming, Ryan Kavanagh, Matthew Corrente, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Nicolas Deslauriers
Goalies – Ramis Sadikov, Peter Delmas, Michael Hutchinson, Tyson Sexsmith.
Looking at both the NHL and prospects this team has some assets but we are always looking to improve. With a late first and a couple of 2nds and a two thirds we are looking to add some more key pieces to our prospect line up. With a lot of cap next season we will also be looking to add NHLers if it makes sense.
