Default Sled Island 2011

A lot of bands already announced and more to come on May 1st.

Highlights for me so far:

Buzzcocks
Of Montreal
Scratch Bastid
Adebisi Shank
Man Man

Full list here: http://sledisland.com/lineup/full-list.html

Tons of bands I've never heard of and I'm sure a lot of people in the same boat. Was thinking we could use this thread to educate each other on some of these artists. I'll start it off.

Scratch Bastid: This guy will blow your mind. Best turntabilist I've ever seen live and that includes Kid Koala, DJ Shadow, Buck 65, A-Trak, etc. I also grew up with him, so while I may be biased, I'll put my money where my mouth is. If anyone goes to this show and doesn't have a good time, I'll pay for your freakin' ticket. Guy plays records like they're part of his hands...

This is a classic set, if you look close I'm in the crowd...

For those who don't want to invest 7 mins, here's a quick clip from Scribble Jam

And one more for the 40+ crowd...

I've got some more artists to talk about but gotta run for a bit. If this catches on I'll post when I get back. Looking forward to learning about some new music, that's what make festivals like these such an amazing time.

I'm exited for:
Barn Burner - Kinda reminds me of something between Cursed, and Blood for Blood

Bison B.C.

Deer Tick

Demon's Claw

Buzzcocks

Hunx and his Punx

Thee Oh Sees - I like anything John Dwyer has done, but I would have much rather seen the Coachwhips

So far the line up looks a lot weaker than last year. Not sure if I'll buy a pass, unless they announce some pretty great acts on May 1st.
