We have never had any issues with it. It is an older dishwasher with only the spin arm on the bottom.

Are most dishwashers the same size? I'm asking because the one in my rental is dying a slow death, and I'd like to save a trip if possible.

Geeeeez it couldn't get much easier. That's where my rental is. Consider it sold!
And the reason my dishwasher is almost dead is due to overuse, and jamming random food stuffs into it. It didn't help it wasn't lubed either.
