Default Can't open links

When I try to open links such as from a website or sent in an email, I get a message that my computer is restricted from those actions and I should contact my network admnistator. Well, I own the company and have not knowingly made such a change to my computer. How can I change it so that links will open for me without clipping the link and pasting it into my brower (IE)? Would it work differently with another browser. I have rebooted my computer and it's still happening.

while your at it. What Anti Virus, do you use? Any anti-malware programs? you may have a security setting or a security program that has been set to block links you click on.

If I'm reading correctly when you cut and paste the links works, so its doubtful your host file is hijacked by malicious software... most likely a setting or even more likely something you recently installed.

Best rule of thumb is no matter how unlikely it may seem the last change you made before weird behaviours started is the problem. Undo that change.

As said in my original post, I use Internet Explorer. I have Malwarebytes and use MS Security Essentials. Both are up to date and report no issues.

Yes, I can clip and paste links but can't click on the link itself. I'll check my settings but haven't knowlngly changed anything.

Thats really odd... I'm not sure what to suggest... you could try resetting IE I guess...

1. Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).
2. Type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER: inetcpl.cpl
The Internet Options dialog box appears.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
5. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
6. Start Internet Explorer again.

If that doesn't work... Firefox 4 is nice... Chrome?

ok, this sounds like a problem I fought with at work off and on for a couple hours and decided it was to much of a pain and just re-imaged the PC.

So, I am no help.
