I used 3 amigo's and had a great experience, paid about 715 for 5 1/2 hours, the 2 guys that did the job were hardcore fast.

I worked for St. George for a bit. They're pretty professional, and do a good job. Not sure how the cost compares to other companies...I'm guessing they're on part with the other bigger companies. The benefit is you generally know what you're getting. Smaller companies seem to be pretty hit or miss.

We used "Get a Move On" for our move in June. They were excellent.

Do a search - there was a fairly long thread about this a few months ago.

Premier Van Lines. Can't say enough. What you pay in higher rates you make up in how fast they are... and how your crap isn't broken.

bumpity bump
Sorry to bump, but this is the last thread about movers and it's 1.5 years old.
Does anyone have any more recent recommendations or bad moves?

I just used Premier Van Lines last weekend and they were awesome. For 3 guys working for 8 hours to move a two story house it was $1300. All 3 guys were knew what they were doing and did it fast.
Only one small mark on our wood banister that could not be avoided. They were moving an extremely heavy treadmill into the basement and the stairs are narrow so I can't fault them for a small scrape.

I'll be impressed if they moved you all the way to Iceland...

I was expecting the cost to be much higher as well so I was pleasantly surprised.
My wife and I did all the packing and we used free boxes from work. We just bought a couple rolls of bubble wrap and used newspaper for packing. The movers supplied wardrobe boxes for clothing free of charge, which was a huge help.
I had the majority of the boxes moved to the main floor which sped things up as well.

I used them to move my family from Olds to east Alberta.
They showed up 4 hours late and didn't tell us we'd be receiving our stuff the next day rather then the same day.
What a horrible experience.
