Live Shakespeare in Calgary...?

Strange question here, but I'm in the mood for a little culture (this is probably spawned by a news story regarding the authenticity of one of Shakespeare's portraits).

Anybody know where, in the next 8 months or so, one might find a live Shakespeare performance in Calgary? I've done a brief search of the web, and it doesn't appear that Theatre Calgary or ATP are planning any for next season.

I saw a couple of his plays in high school and I'd like to give them another shot.

Typically every summer there is Shakespere in the Park down on Prince's Island. Not sure where you can find details but you should start seeing posters go up around soon I would think.

You're looking in the wrong town if you're looking for snooty plays :P


"Nosebleeds" is the default location if you don't put anything in your "location" section on your profile.

Let's see:
Shakespear in the park starts every July (err or is it June?)
They usually do 3-4 different Shakespear plays. The theater season is winding down now of course, since summer is coming, and the new one will start in Septemeber/October. If you pick up FFWD and look in the back they have a listing of all plays going on right now. Don't constrict yourself just to shakespear, there are many other good plays about.
FFWD will also put out their theater season listings come Septemeber or so if your willing to wait for that.

Though they don't do a lot of Shakespeare, the best company in the city for historically famous plays is Theatre Junction... they do a lot of Beckett, Chekov, and other plays you year about all the time but rarely actually see performed.
