Default Question about eyeglasses

I typically wear contact lenses during the day and only throw on my glasses at night- wear them occasionally during the week. My prescription is quite light around -1.25.

Anyways, I want to purchase some new glasses, but I'm wondering if high index lenses are going to make a difference given my low prescription? Are there other benefits to having high index lenses even if my standard lenses are fairly thin as it is?

The biggest aggravation for me is keeping my lenses clean, and the subsequent scratching that occurs when I clean them with my shirt etc... I don't think high index lenses are easier to clean, but do they scratch less? If I were to get high index lenses, which ones are best for my prescription range?

Thanks for the advice.

There's no point for -1.25.

Thanks... After reading elsewhere, it seems its more important when you get past 2.00 prescriptions.

Yeah, I'm at 2.14 I think, and I go for the high index lenses.

I have -1.00 on both sides and the cheapest lenses I could get are almost as thin as my wire frames.

So no, don't pay extra for high index.

Not an answer to your question, but for sure order your glasses online. Crazy savings.
You can use clearycontacts, for budget frames
Or go to a real store, try on designer frames, take note of all numbers in the frames, go to an online retailer like simplyeyeglasses.com and order.
Takes longer, but the savings are huge.
