Small issue with family, Looking for advice from the masses
So I have a small family issue that I'm looking for help on.
This past summer my Grandpa died, My grandma is already in a retirement home so all their possession left in their house were going to be sold, or given away if Family didn't want it. I asked if I could have the HD-PVR, and my aunt (who was in charge of giving the stuff away) promised me it but since she would be living in the house until it was sold she asked to keep it until than.
Know the house sold and she is keeping the PVR box and saying it was her's all along and has started to ignore me since I sent her all the emails say that she is promising it to me.
Now it is just a PVR box and I really don't care, and I don't care if I ever talk to her again. But She treated my mom like #### for the year my Grandpa was dying (but I won't go into the details at all) and She only thinks about herself so I really don't want her to benefit anymore from her lying.
So what should I do? or what can I do in this situation?

It all depends what Grandpa's will says. Family battles are rarely a good idea.

Go to futureshop and buy a pvr. Problem solved. I fail to see why such a small thing should be cause of a major family issue.

Take her out to dinner to discuss it...
Have friend break in (or Mom) and take it.
Sell it on ebay and buy a different one.

Sounds like the issue is already there and the PVR is just another manifestation.
No idea what a good course of action is....

You should do to her what Stewie did to Brian when he owed him money.
Seriously, if its only PVR or her treating your mom like crap, just walk away. You're just gonna waste your time with the person like her if you take it further.

Forget the PVR and buy your own. Not worth the hassle. No offence, but if a PVR causes this much of a 'hassle', imagine what other more valuable items will do.

I can understand what you're talking about, but I don't think there's anything you can do about it, unless you have written instructions from your grandmother instructing the HD-PVR to go to you.
I agree with trout... these things can get messy with no instructions available.

Sign up with Telus and they'll give you a free PVR.
I can't believe this is even a problem.

My mom felt this way after her sister removed some books from their parent's household without discussing the matter first. It's not the stuff that matters, it's the lack of consideration and honesty.
It's such a deeply personal thing, that I really am unsure how to give you advice. You know your aunt, I don't.
Perhaps the best thing to do is just try to forget this, as others have suggested.

She sounds like a really pleasant person.
Ignore her, if you arent married, dont invite her to the wedding.
If you are married purposefully exclude her of pictures of your kids etc.

The situation is already kind of bad, and it can only get MUCH worse from here.
Forget about the damn trinket and go visit your Grandma.
