What do you think? One day we can access things anytime and anywhere?
With technology advancing so quickly it's possible. But if you've ever seen the paper that goes through my office, it seems so far away.

Thor posted this in the Cool Picture thread. Far more interesting potential than everything being a giant iPad. Mindblowing, IMO.
God, imagine the fecal matter that would be on all of those surfaces.

The stuff they show is already possible. Samsung has developed a OLED display in which the pixels can be applied by a laserjet printer onto many surfaces, including paper.
The surface material is an integral part of touchscreens. This is where Corning comes in. They produce the glass used in Samsung's and Apple's smartphones.

I am fully anticipating the day when my laptop becomes utterly obsolete and I need only carry around an ubersmartphone in my pocket which will wirelessly connect to screen's and keyboards at various workstations. I expect that to come pretty soon.
Augmented reality is inevitably going to come along with that, though it will certainly be more than that and will represent the bigger change. It has the potential to fundamentally alter how the haves of our species that access it are able to interact with our environment. It's quite exciting, and not that far off.

Think beyond that. None of your devices will be directly linked. They'll communicate with each other through the cloud.

Well, I'm still going to want a device on my person that allows me to communicate with the network no matter where I am. Cloud or not, that's essential.

Seems like the future is going to be really annoying.
Its going to be so sweet walking down the road with screens going "HEY YOU!!! Buy this!" or "If you deposit 1000 dollars into this account i will give you my dead king fathers fortune"
I suddenly have a desire to watch Minority Report.

Yesssss, wall-based internet browsing while I'm in the bathroom. No more burning my legs with my lap top...is what I would say if I brought my laptop to the bathroom with me...

You can already do that with Citrix mobile client if your IT is worth their salt.

I'm holding out for iphone 9 -- the version that makes head bands popular again because you strap it on and the screen is projected onto the back of your retina.
