Default HEPA Allergen remover- worth it???

Just looking at a Honeywell Hepa allergen remover for $300, but I'm wondering if anyone has any feedback on these things? Do they actually do the job?

My big problem is sneezing. An issue for me all year round, but it will get much worse in a month or two...

Any advice? Different model or brand name perhaps?

I did a bunch of research on these and ended up going with the Sharp. Unfortunately I can't remember what the sites said about Honeywell, but there is lots of good info out there on a couple sites.

I most definitely noticed a difference with it after having a wicked mold alergy.

We bought 2 for our daughter who has lots of airborne allergies. They are great. Have to change the outside filter every 3 months, but the HEPA is lifetime, and you just vacuum it off every 6 months. Cured her sneezing and helped with her skin, too...and the Honeywell ones are the best rated from all the research we did.

I have pretty severe allergies and I use a Sharp Plasmacluster air purifier. I picked this up because my reactions started to get really bad last summer and I'd have the worst reactions (wheezing, shallow breathing, etc.) at home only. Did a ton of research and it rates pretty good for what you pay.

After I bought it, my wheezing stopped after a full day of it cleaning the air and now I just have it on when I sleep.

There are even higher end devices, but I'd give this brand a shot.

Here's the best site I found on reviews for air purifiers: http://www.air-purifier-power.com/to...purifiers.html

Oh yeah and also take a look at the CADR rating of your purifier to see what size room it has been measured as being sufficient for.

The AHAM seal (usually found on the back of an air cleaner's box) will list three CADR numbers - one for tobacco smoke, one for pollen and one for dust. The CADR indicates volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner. The higher the tobacco smoke, pollen and dust numbers, the faster the unit filters the air.
Follow our 2/3 Rule:

You'll always want a unit with a tobacco smoke CADR at least 2/3 your room's area. For example, a 10' x 12' room -120 square feet - would require an air cleaner with a tobacco smoke CADR of at least 80. If your room size is smaller, the unit will simply clean the air more often or faster. If you have ceilings higher than 8', you'll want an air cleaner rated for a larger room.

is there a device that can be attached to the HVAC to deliver whole-house HEPA filtration?

nm; sounds like they don't work: http://www.aircleaners.com/wholehouse.phtml
