Exactly. So why do you have such a problem with making a different choice than you? Frankly there is a lot to being over connected. Balance is important - you don't need to reply to every email, text and voice mail within seconds.

If they don't have email at home it's a clear sign they are brushing you off. A way of saying they don't want to talk to you anymore.

I feel texting, emailing, etc... loses a bit of a personal touch and you can never quite see how the other person is actually saying it.
At least a phone call you can hear their voice and maybe detects hints or sarcasm or frustration or what have you. I can't quite do that with a text.
Technology is convenient, but it's taking away from face-to-face interpersonal connection that we have. All the kids taking the bus are texting away, with their headphones plugged into something or playing on a DS or PSP or what not. I miss the days where I'd be able to meet people riding the bus.
Let people do what they want, you can't control them and it certainly not something I'd try to do. If they don't want to text or email, then let them not text or email. If you email them and they call you, so be it, what's the big fuss?

how hard is it to get an email and reply "Hey Jim, I will have a look at this tomorrow when I am back from my sales trip". I hate the blackhole of no reply. Its rude frankly.
|
A helpful, meaningful answer is more useful than a prompt one.
And you reply to every forward you get? Everything? Every automated email you get from a website? Even the ones that ask you not to reply directly to the address?

an email also doesnt interupt the person like a phone call would. whats wrong with a system where i text you "hey, good time for a phone call?"
why not use that tool instead of constantly being interupted by a phone call? if its not a good time, reply "hey, how about in 15 minutes".
how easy was that?

I don't use twitter or facebook. Why can't people pick up the phone when they want to talk to you?

Not getting back to someone within seconds is not the same thing as ignoring them.

what does a phone have to do with twitter?
twitter has plenty of practical applications. its not just for "im taking a dump" postings.

So if I was a client, and I emailed you at 2:00 AM on a Sunday, asking you something you that required you to reference information from your office that you wouldn't have until you got there on Monday, you would respond within 10 minutes? To basically tell me you can't help me until Monday? How is that more helpful than responding with what I need to know on Monday?
I kind of understand where you're coming from, but not with how wound up you seem to be about it.
