Edmonton Student wears same jeans 15 months
i didn't see this posted previously.....
Quote:
An Edmonton student wore the same pair of jeans for 15 months without washing — in the name of fashion, and science.
Josh Le, who attends the University of Alberta, wore the skin-tight jeans from September 2009 to December 2010 to see how dirty raw denim jeans could get without washing

that's just gross - but it doesn't really surprise me that this story is from Edmonton!
i'm betting his dating life has been a little slow over the last while!

Ahhh, isn't the point of the article that the pants weren't any worse than pants worn a few times. Hence, not really that gross?

They are denim. Specifically raw denim. They aren't supposed to be washed too often.
I don't see what the problem is (other than his were the skin-tight variety).
I wore my jeans for 6 months before I finally washed them.
If they stink that bad, you can do what the guy in the article did and freeze them, or you can hang them out in the sun for a while. Both will kill most bacteria causing the odor.

My nudies are up to 13 months without washing.
So far, no smell that is detectable.

15 months is a pretty long time but as some others have mentioned it's not THAT out of the ordinary. 15 years and I'd be impressed.

So let me get this straight, the more expensive the jeans, the less some of you wash them?? Why? Are they prone to falling apart in the washing machine?

I didn't wash my Nudies for a full year after buying them, although I work in an office, so I definitely wasn't wearing them every day.
I also followed the instructions by triple bagging and putting them in the freezer.

If you wanna see how quick jeans get dirty just go to a strip club. You'd figure eating some chips the night before and wiping your hands in your jeans is no biggie. The grease stains will make your jeans light up like a christmas tree as soon as you walk in the door!
True story.

Raw denim isn't treated with any chemicals to give them a certain wash ( aka stone wash , whiskers, etc) that other jeans have on them . They dont come with a dyed wash to them. So you wear the ( in laymans term) wash into the jeans. The more you wear them the more the distressing shows on the jeans and gives them a better look. Its means no jeans are made the same and some of them turn out pretty cool . Its just niche in the denim market that some people really enjoy. Its not that big of a deal. I dont wash my jeans often , mainly because you dont have to and it weakens the denim if you wash them all the time . I also dont wear them for 15 months straight.
