Hey guys I asked a question on the old off-topic board and then didn't get a chance to read it before everything switched over so I'll ask it again.
Basically I'm looking for something realistic both on and off the ice (trades, signings etc), something that you can play for hours and not throw a controller through the screen (well a couple times is ok but you know). Graphics are important to me but not exactly make or break.
I haven't been buying hockey games for the last few years because IMO they just weren't improving like I wanted them too.
Is ESPN 2005 a good buy for someone like me??

I just hope the on ice game play isn't as frustrating... scoring goals was very tedious. I'd say 90% of my goals in 2k4 were of the one timer variety. I don't think I scored one single goal by roofing a shot over a goalie.
Like I mentioned in the old board, ESPN always manages to be so close to the perfect Hockey game, yet so very far away.
I truly think their development team isn't totally in tune with the game of hockey... they get the presentation right, but never game play in terms of skating, shooting, goalies, ect.
I usually buy both EA's NHL and ESPN/Sega's NHL every year, and I know that last year I played a heck of alot more NHL 2004 just because it was consistently a fun game, I got just plain annoyed with ESPN 2004.
