I was a bit surprised that when I made Stewart available I had a total of 4 offers I thought he would garner more interest.

However the offers made were strong ... Dave and Turd made strong pushes, but Stewart is off to the AVS.....

Analysis:

Stewart was Very hard to move. In fact I wanted to keep him. However, I realized that moving him could set me up better for the future.

Flieschmann is having a resurgence in Colorado, but is still a bit of an Enigma. I am hoping he can keep up his pace. Johanssen projects to be a solid 2nd line two-way center and Rensfeldt is a project that was an early 2nd round pick last draft.

Chris Stewart Traded to Avalanche

Denver, CO - Chris Stewart is back home. Acquired by the Avalanche this evening from the Washington Capitals. The 2nd place Avalanche added some grit and goal scoring to their lineup with the acquisition of Chris Stewart. "I am very excited to come to a team in this position, hopefully I can contribute and not mess up this roll the Avalanche are in" said Stewart on a conference call.

The right winger adds scoring and grit to the Avalanche lineup, something they were lacking throughout the year. "We don't want to get pushed around when the standings start to tighten up closer to the playoffs." said GM Swayze11. Stewart is expected to skate on the 2nd line and hopefully spark the powerplay which is 23rd in the league. "Our special teams need to get better. We wish Tomas all the best in Washington." said the general manager.

Good deal boys. A red hot Avs team adds a young stud in Stewart while Wsh gets a package of really good assets. Makes sense for both.
