Some numbers I crunched in excel to see the overall picture of where each teams strength is.
So basically I took each team's top 18 skaters and looked at their individual ratings. The thing I added was the ice-time.
Assumptions
-Your top line on offense plays 35%
-Your second line on offense plays 30%
-Your third on offense plays 25%
-Your fourth line on offense plays 10%
-Defence breakdown went as 40% for first pair, 35% for second pair, 25% for third
-Your top rated player at C,LW,RW were your first line then the next best rating is the second line etc.
-Your top 4 players at each forward positon were then taken.
-Your top 6 dman were chosen.
-If you didn't have 4 players at each forward position, you were assigned a default rating of 50s across the board for the 4th player. Couple of those cases.
Looked at key factors as Durability, Faceoffs, Passing, Scoring, Defence, Experience, Leadership, Overall.
For faceoffs only your 4 centerman were considered.
Ratings are out of 500 for all except facoffs
Faceoff rating is out of 100
The top teams in most cases have the top ratings. Bottom feeders really have a lot of work to do to catch up.
For deviation, take the mean and add/subtract the deviation and if you're above that number then you're in the upper half of the league, 16%, basically elite. If you're below the number then you're in the bottom half of league, 16%,as in really bad. An area you can focus on in your next trade discussion.
Here are the results.
