Default Best RPG's on the Xbox 360?

Anyone have any recommendations for RPG's for the 360? I heard Dragon Age Origins was very good as is Oblivion. Thoughts and thanks!

Is it backwards compatible with the Xbox? If so both the Knights of the Old Republic were really good.

I enjoyed both Fallout/Fallout Vegas as well. Vegas moreso.

I have an original Xbox. Looking for 360 titles. Thanks though.

Mass effect 1+2. Fallout 3+New Vegas are good also.

The Fallout games are a must, but I'd wait on New Vegas until the patches are confirmed and the glitches are all gone.

Fable is nearly the same game it was in its first incarnation, so if you enjoyed that then maybe try 2 and 3.

Dragonage, due to its RTS game play components, is better for the PC imo.

For JRPG, the Tales games are quite good. I'd avoid Square Enix though.

Fallout 3 is so much better than New Vegas is. I have played about 8 hours in New Vegas and I have already seen more glitches than my entire playtime on Fallout 3 which is in the 100's of hours. It is pretty sad how much glitches are in that game and a lot are pretty pathetic considering how noticeable they are. By this I mean the game testers seriously need to be fired because how you don't find all these glitches is beyond me when they are so obvious and occur so often.

Luckily nothing is game-breaking yet.

But the best 2 RPG's for the 360 are Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Dragon Age and Oblivion are two of the best 5 or so RPGs I've played in the last 10 years.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 are must have RPG games.

I'd suggest Lost Odyssey if you're into the more traditional Japanese type RPG's.

Along with all the previous games mentioned, I really enjoyed Eternal Sonata. It's a turn base JRPG with a bit of a twist.

Something to point out about Fallout 3 and New Vegas is that Fallout 3 was also quite glitchy. Fallout 3 has lots of graphics issues and some sidequest bugs that makes sidequests harder or impossible to finish.

The problem is New Vegas' glitches are fatal errors that will ruin entire saves. They will be fixed and the game will be great, but until it is fixed it is just not worth it.

New Vegas has plenty of graphical errors, I have encountered tons of enemies where they are glitched under the map and can't attack me, 9 guys spawning inside each other, etc.

I am at about 13 hours game time now, and my game is almost unplayable with the loading times and the slowdowns. I experienced one freeze, had to restart and now my game keeps having "minor freezes". Getting pretty annoying.

Fallout 3 is way better.

My friend and I were in a party chatting (him playing Mass Effect 2, me playing New Vegas) and I just wanted to go play ME2 after him talking about what he was doing in the game. There is so much awesomeness in Mass Effect 2. I think I'll have to go back and beat it when I am finished with New Vegas.

For the loading time issue, if you install the game to your harddrive it's not so bad. I only saw a couple bad guys spawned in the ground, but wasn't too much of a deal breaker. Never experienced anything that would break the game, so I guess I was lucky. Definately a very buggy game.

I was under the impression that Fallout: New Vegas was better because they released a patch.

Tales of Vesperia is a great JRPG as is Enternal Sonata. I bought Resonance of Fate at Rogers during Boxing Day and it's supposed to be okay.

You can always go with the fan favourites of Mass Effect 1 and 2 which can be had right now I think for $30 for the both at Futureshop (buy two $19.99 games for $30).

I believe it is still PC only.

A few more decent RPG's that haven't been mentioned and might interest you are; Star Ocean TLH, Magna Carta 2, and Rise Of The Argonauts

If you want to check out a lot of RPGs on the cheap then head out to Rogers Plus. They are having a buy 1 get 2 free on used games as well as 75% off a fair amount of new games. I'm not sure what luck you'll have as most of the places have been cleaned out by the "Let's buy all the games and just trade them in" crew (which I ran into on Boxing Day) but give it a try if you have time. I was able to get Resonance of Fate and Star Ocean: The Last Hope International (PS3).

One thing to note is that a lot of games these days have RPG elements (i.e. evolve your character, etc.). Are you looking for a straight-up RPG or a mix of genres (Mass Effect is an 'action RPG')?

Coming down the pipe you have Dragon Age 2 coming in March and a game called "Two Worlds 2" coming this month. The first one, from what I understand, wasn't very good at all but this second one is supposed to be great.

One thing you'll find is with the 360 you'll have a lot of European (mostly German I've found) developers/publishers release games that normally you wouldn't see. These are usually huge PC games that have been ported to the console (sometimes not so well). If you can stomach some performance issues and inventory management issues you may have fun. Games like Risen ($19.99 in the Walmart bargain bin or $9.99 at Rogers), Arcania (Gothic 4), Divinity 2 (there is a new version coming out soon, when the developers find a North American publisher which I think they have, that comes with updated graphics and an expansion pack...reviews from Europe regarding this 'second version' have been very positive).

There are even a few decent RPGs on XBox Live Arcade (Faery: Legends of Avalon, Vanquish Hearts).

Personally, I'd like to try my hand at the new Divinity game (it looks like it has cool weapons and armor in it) and Magna Carta 2 once it goes down in price.

Oh yeah, there's also Final Fantasy 13 which I found was pretty good.

Xbox released a patch for it in December. 10 hours in no significant issues yet.
I put a lot of hours into Fallout 3 but I'm the type of person that likes to go off alone and explore the environment. With New Vegas, they added more customization into your character. The new hardcore mode is an interesting new twist to the game as well, but I think I won't attempt that until my character is build up a bit more first

I am going for the Hardcore achievement (beat the game with Hardcore on the entire time) and it has been pretty tough sometimes. The hard part is the looting, because all of your ammo holds weight now, and food and stimpacks/rads heal over time instead of right away so you need to be VERY strategic. It gets tough when you're fighting like 5-6 guys at a time.

Can't wait until I beat it and then I am turning it the hell off!
