I won't ask if u left the car in gear...... or if there is pressure on the wheels ie from snow..... start the car turn the steering wheel then try turning it off and removing the key...
Also, check the owners manual. I ran into a ford that did that on purpose. Can't remember why, exactly. But it was a long drawn out process to get it removed.

Not always. I've owned several cars where the key could be removed from the ignition after the car was running. It was a "winter feature" which allowed the car to be started and left running while the same key was used to lock the doors.

I have that.i just thought my key was super worn-down and slid out of the lock.
