I was constantly having eye strain and headaches, always while at home. Optometrist asked if I was using CFL's and indeed I had converted the entire place to them. Went back to incandescent bulbs, and was immediately more comfortable.

I have that problem at work, with the tubes, haven't noticed at home, but we have a lot of windows. It is sure adifferent light to get used to. I also don't know what we're supposed to do with chandeliers with 6,8,10 lights and dimmers. Stock up?

There are dimmable LED lights now - I saw them at Wal-Mart. And they're only $46 each.

I like halogen-lamps. Saves about 30% of energy compared to a standard lightbulb, lasts longer, quality of light is good, it's instantly bright and it doesn't have the same hazardous materials as CFL:s, which is a major bonus.

Also, CFL:s have insane differences in quality, it's really hard to get the ones that are actually any good at all. Most of them are just crap and last maybe 10% of what they're supposed to.

Im actually fighting with CFL's right now ... I mistakenly bought a chandelier for the dining room that has GU24 CFL sockets. I've always hated them, but have heard they are better these days. So, I've tried using it ... my eyes feel strained all of the time and I cant stand it.

Does anyone know if there is an adapter to go from GU24 (it's a wide post socket) to a different socket? Maybe the GU10 (narrow post halogen) or even the A19 (normal incandescent)...
