This April, I am participating in a fundraiser called the Pink Ring; a 12 hour ringette game for breast cancer.
What this fundraiser aims to do is raise money for various breast cancer-related things in Calgary. In the past the money raised through this game has been used to purchase diagnostic tools and support patient programs.
The really great thing about the Pink Ring, is all money raised in Calgary stays in Calgary - and you know what it is going towards. For Pink Ring 2011, the money is going towards the High Risk Breast Health Clinic at the Calgary Women's Health Centre. The clinic offers individuals at high risk for developing breast cancer with risk assessment, evidence-based screening, risk reduction planning, and psychosocial support.
Also, because all donations are made through Calgary Health Trust, they can tax-deductible. Donations of $20 or more are automatically issued a tax receipt. If your donation is between $10 and $20, you must request a receipt when making the donation. Under $10 is not eligible.
As I personally know 5 women that have been affected by breast cancer, I would be greatly appreciative if you could sponsor me for any amount at all.
