Found a dog
Last night when we were coming back from the Dome we found a dog in the Southland station parking lot - about 10.20pm. We took her to the 24 hour veterinary hospital in Deerfoot Meadows. The dog was micro-chipped and had an ear tattoo so we were hopeful that she would be reunited with her owner. Sadly today we rang the vet to check she had been claimed but heard that no owner had come forward. She will be going to Animal Services tomorrow. She weighed about 35lb, mostly white with some brown splodges. She was wearing a red harness but no collar. Really sweet natured. Jumped into the truck and enjoyed the warm up and the ride.
This post is just in case you know anyone in the Southland station area that may have lost a dog yesterday.

35 lbs?
That's what... about 2 and half hours at 350 degrees?

My sister and brother in law once found a beautiful black lab on Crowchild Trail...just running around going crazy. They pulled over and she jumped right into the truck. The next day they took her into The Humane Society. When nobody came forward they adopted her.
She is absolutely an awesome dog. I wish I had found her.
Just sayin'.

how someone could abandon their dog on the side of the road or just let them run free and not care is beyond me. if my beagle got away and was missing id call in sick to work until i found it and would be a total wreck the whole time

No. That's less than 5 minutes per pound. I think you need at least 15 minutes per pound for hot dogs. So about 9 hours. But maybe if you starve it for a bit, you can get it down to 8 hours.

If she's chipped and tattooed, can they not find out who the owner is?

That's what we hoped - so I can only presume that the owner has moved and abandoned her.

They only work if the owner remembers to update the contact information in the database.

Joke was funny as a first post, now you just look like a water-based feminine hygiene product.

Oh calm down. Since Suzles gave the dog a happy ending joking about it is no big deal.
