Anyone watching La Gangwars: The peace maker?
Quite a interesting show on A&E.
A guy named Malik Spellman tries to mediate between rival crip gangs in LA. Looks kinda fake to me but I dunno I guess it could be real.
Anyone catch it? think it's fake?

I have seen a couple episodes. I also get the feeling that it is kinda fake. I can't see these "real gang" leaders go on camera and make peace treaties

Yeah, especially when some of them give out their street names and sometimes their involvement with a shooting.
My favorite part was when they made a peace treaty between two gangs and then when the show was over n little subtitles it said " gang member GKdonut was killed shortly after the filming was done"
I dont know why, but that made me laugh.

What parts of it do you think are fake? I guarantee you, you couldn't pay any actor enough money to dress up in crip gear and hang out on gang turf. They'd get their wig peeled in about two minutes flat.
They are real gangs in real gang neighbourhoods. I suppose whether or not the gangs have beef with each other could be scripted, however that kind of thing is well known to people who live there and news would get out asap that the show is bull####.

I guarantee you could pay an actor enough.
The whole show looks fake to me, but I'm not saying it is fake. It could be real, I guess we aren't used to seeing these guys on camera and talking. They sound a lot smarter than your average gang banger.
Except the one guy who says "know what I'm saying" 60 times a minute.

I don't think it's fake, but I don't think these guys are amongst the most dangerous and notorious of LA's gangsters. Just what they could get for the show
The ones causing the most problems are not likely interested in any sort of TV show or moderation.

The peace treaties are likely BS. I guarantee you its all posturing for the camera. These guys would tear eachother apart in real circumstances.
Reality TV in general is BS though. Anyone would act differently in front of a camera than they would in real life.

If it is real then this is true since the guy that was the supposed leader in one of the gangs was killed right after one of the peace treaty meetings. The leader on the other side had his sister killed in a drive by shooting right after the treaty as well.

You couldn't pay me enough money to impersonate a gangbanger in any hood. That's about the quickest way to end up in a pine box I can think of.
And these guys are a lot smarter than people give them credit for. They may not be educated in school but they have street smarts and are surviving in a literal war zone day to day. I don't agree with any of it but it's reality in every major u.s. city.

There isn`t any `peace making` involved here, without money being involved. This is probably 50% fake. These are probably real life feuds, but are so minimal that TV is spinning them to be more epic than they actually are.

I am going to Cali in March...I'll stroll through those areas and find out
I don't think it's fake...but what do I know, still going to watch it
also the EPIC-ness of feuds...that one with the pregnant girl getting shot in the street...pretty "epic"

I'm just thankful I don't live in areas like those (if they're actually real, as portrayed in the show). Why you would want to live that type of life, I'll never know.

I have a buddy that played ECHL hockey for the Long Beach, Cali team a couple of years ago. I guess the team helped out the players when it came to housing and stuck a bunch of players a block away from two crip neighborhoods. Buddy told me stories how these 6'4, 230lb goons on the team were scared out of their mind to even wander anywhere near those lines because they were convinced something real bad would happen....He told me some pretty crazy stories.
As for the show itself, I wouldn't be surprised if the gangs involved were legit... but the "peacemaking" itself looks forced. I can't see two rival gangmembers coming on screen like that if they still have issues. Who knows though.
