I know there’s already the off-season thread, but I figured there might as well be one for the season as it’s coming up soon. This season’s format is definitely gonna be…..interesting to say the least:
Definitely need more info, because this is incredibly cryptic. Can't be gambling, he'd be fired for that. Probably not sexual harassment, again likely an instant dismissal. We'll see.
A whole year for a consensual relationship seems very excessive, to the point that if I was Udoka I'd just resign and leave the Celtics in a really bad way.
The first tweet made it seem like he was beating up players or something. I can't believe he got suspended a full year for having an affair with another consenting adult. I understand its in the contract, but a full year seems silly. Not only that you are hurting your team by suspending your coach for the year. I wonder the reason for the big suspension is because he is engaged to Nia Long.
If we are suspending people for cheating on their partners, Tristan Thompson would be out of the NBA altogether by now.

The entire "power dynamics" aspect of consent makes these dicey. He's the head coach of the franchise and in his first year took his team to the NBA finals.
For every woman that says "yes" because they felt they had agency, there could be one who felt they didn't.
I mean wasn't a big portion of the #metoo movement about people not understanding power dynamics?

Removing some of the rumours that Boston fans were saying, but Zach Lowe has said "Based on what we have found out [about the Udoka situation]...its messy, and its ugly and its going to be really sad. Whatever happens...there's going to be damage here." So I think this was potentially more than a single power dynamic relationship, as much as that on its own is problematic and deserving of a harsh penalty.
I dunno man. In watching those clips he looks a lot like Chris Bosh, but taller. Not the fleetest of foot (certainly not KDs speed). His jumper looks good but his movement is very Bosh like. I'm not sure how that transitions to the modern NBA, but if he gets a team to develop him his shot is there. Hard to say with watching limited action.

For a basketball player that was a lethal hook. I think Green was out in contact. Surely there have to be major repercussion in the form of a suspension for something like that, star player or not. Yikes.
