Why? Just to piss off the Oilers and give away assets? You do this and they likely will do the Flames a return favor when it suits them. I don't think Conroy wants to be that a-hole GM.

No dummy, to help our team. The Oilers will do it to us anyway.

Not that I'm very impressed with the player anyway, but after reading TheIronMaiden's post about him in the E=NG thread, I'd definitely say no!

Flames need all the help to tank, not to build a half decent mediocre team with players you can get either from draft or from the farm or through other means.

Not worth starting an arms race, especially when we are going nowhere fast!

I would offer Holloway the same thing as Broberg - low enough for the Oilers to match, but high enough to be an inconvenience.

Where's the evidence?
The Oilers have offer-sheeted a total of one (1) player in their history, and that was 17 years ago. He was not a Calgary Flame.
You want to spend $4 million a year or thereabouts on a player who has yet to score 10 points in an NHL season? That's nuts.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
So the Flames, who are expected to be a bottom 10 or worse team are going to hand over a decent pick to their rivals for a player whose talent level (or better) they could just as well draft on their own with that pick, only to watch those same rivals flip that pick for playoff help?
Seems stupid.

You can surely get him for $3M. He's got hands, speed, playoff experience and age 22.

If we weren't rebuilding and the 2nd round pick in compensation wasn't almost definitely a very early 2nd round pick... then maybe?
But at this stage I'd just rather we make our own picks.
Holloway's still unproven anyway.

Hard pass. Never understood the appeal, and he hasn't done a single thing since he was drafted to change my mind.
