The worst part about this loss is we gave the Nucks some confidence going into game 6

I wouldn't call Wideman the goat. At least the effort was there and Gaudreau turned over the puck on one shift more than Wideman did all game but like Wideman the effort was there. As far as Hudler and Monahan go I have to say if they are this badly hurt maybe one or both of them should sit as they were total non-factors and at times it looked like Johnny was playing with two invisible men. It's hurting the team especially on the power play which looked better when the 2nd unit got the scraps of the last minute.

Monahan was invisible tonight - hope he's not too hurt. Sat is must win IMO, otherwise might be too much momentum to overcome. I hate the gingers (and all gingers actually)

Surprised you didn't give the first star to Hiller 41-43 shots.

How I loathe sports metaphors. see https://xkcd.com/904/

Saturday is not a must win. If we lose Saturday, we still have a chance to win Monday. That's the beauty of building a 3-1 lead.
There is no such thing as momentum between games. Most evidently, Calgary had won Gms 3 and 4 very convincingly, and were convincingly pounded in Gm 5.

I think it is a case of injury rather than pressure with Monahan. He played well under pressure in junior and we've seen him come up big time and again in the third period and OT this year when the pressure was on.

1) Team didn't block enough shots last night.

2) Blueline looked tired. Mental mistakes and cheating on routine plays. Fatigue on our current top 4.

3) We need to wrap it up in Game 6 so we can get these guys some rest.

4) Oh, and one more. The first PP unit has to shoot the damn puck and stop the 8 passes before a turnover.

My goat was the top line. Notably Hudler and Monahan - just not showing up for most of this series. It's likely due to injury, but definitely a cause for concern and that's why I really hope the Flames can pull it out in game 6 so they can get at least a couple of days rest.

Flames defensive zone coverage is too soft. The d-men are playing the puck and for block shots than actually hitting the bodies in their own zone. You get the Sedins trolling around your own zone and setting up plays - they no doubt will score. I really don't give a rats arse how many block shots the Flames have in a game. As far as I'm concerned, the Flames shouldn't be playing in their own zone the majority time. I also like to see a lot more finished checks on the Canucks in Saturday's game. Ferland can't do all of it on his own.
