We exposed our Captain in the Seattle Expansion and gave him all the space in the world to deal with what he needed to. Can’t imagine he’d even consider signing anywhere else after all the love the organization has shown him

It will be interesting to see what this contract turns out to be. I can't for the life of me put a value on OK. I think he gets the same contract again. $5M for 2 years.

Giordano being exposed had nothing to do with Kylington.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Intersting discussion about this on Barn Burner today. McLennan and Warrener thinking out loud, suggesting the Flames may want to go year to year until they know Kylington is 100%.
I've thought about this too. If not that, perhaps looking for a smaller AAV as they paid Kylington 2 years at his current rate but he only played 1/4 of it?
As the guys mentioned, the Flames supported him through his issues and continue to. They're supportive but maybe being cautious (last line is my take).

Year by year seems excessive. If anything now is when you take the risk and sign him for a decent term.
If he gets back to the level he was a few years ago he's going to get expensive really fast.

Trying to low ball him could turn those warm fuzzies quick.

I would lock him up long term. 5-6 years.
He has shown that he is not year to year, once he was back he was back.

Until he isn’t. I get why the Flames would want to be cautious unless that AAV is low.

This is great. I hope it can at least be a 3-year deal.

He can go on LTIR if any issues arise.

Yeah, Murray still has to pay him though. At some point the good will will run out and business decisions will be made.

He would still get paid, and I suspect because of history, the contract wouldn't be insurable (or the premium would be quite high).

Gio was exposed so Kylington and others could be protected.
I doubt that’s a factor here though… there was never really a debate about who to protect on D.

Kylington wasn’t protected. It was Andersson, Hanifin, and Tanev.

He’s a phenomenal talent and he’s on the right side of 30.
3 years would be a good signing and AAV, is I guess whatever the market is at the moment.
I get the mental health issues, but hopefully he’s getting the support he needs.
Get er done

Shilly may be the last swede standing by the end of this retool.
