Do they really save a lot this year? I think Alzner has a bonus, and if he was in the minors, they would have gained a million in cap space in any case.
This might be more about the dollars saved I guess, as well as giving Alzner an opportunity with a different team.
Local Quebec media stated that his hands are so weak now that he can't open jars or grip anything really. ( Don't remember where I heard this as it was a few years back)
Sad story, was a sold defensive D man for quite some time.
Looking like a bloodbath out there. I will get some delicious shadenfreude if and when James Neal's name pops up
Ha! I'm reveling in the fact that the Oilers cant and wont!
I am enjoying seeing them drag James Neal's useless ass all around the ice like 'A Weekend at Bernies' except with a giant Boat-Anchor around his neck.
It is magnificent.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

You still have to replace the player on your roster, so at best you're saving a few hundred k.
With such minimal savings this year, I would have thought they would wait until next year for the buy-out. Hard to imagine MAB will be around to feel the consequence of the extra cap hit in '23-24 though, I guess.
