I want to, but I can't figure out a dual boot system. I like my computer too much to be offline while I try and get it sorted out. If I had a second computer, I would.

I want to try it actually, but then I'd lose my indonesian copy of Office 2007 and the disk has disappeared.

If you have a SATA harddrive in an enclosure with Esata, can you hook that up via Esata as another harddrive and install windows onto there and boot up from it?

I'm going to download it, and run it on my secondary computer. Apparently, it kicks Vista's butt!

Downloaded it today at work, (MSDN partner so we get it early). FYI - It has to be upgraded from Vista SP1 and is not a standalone installation.

I'm going to start playing around with it tomorrow, but it's basically Vista+.

If I'm really bored this weekend, I'll make a VM of it.

Whoa. So I can't dual-boot with XP?

Edit: Found the answer to my question: No.

This is a bummer. I don't want to risk screwing up my new Vista computer with a beta OS. I know, you could say that a computer with Vista is already quite screwed up, but still...

I'll probably snag it and toss up a VM for it on my iMac.

Edit: Getting "Server is too busy" messages. No surprise.

While I've found Vista to be fine, I'm a little annoyed that I have to now shell out for an "upgrade" to what should be Vista SP2. That's a page from Apple's book I'd rather not M$ to have followed.

Anyone know how much it'll be to upgrade?

Completely agree, and your not the only one that feels this way. ZDNET published a scathing article saying the same thing.

If it follows the current guidelines its probably going to be 150 to 200 dollars to upgrade.

I'm waiting until we know that this thing is stable and past SP 1 before I put it on any of my machines.

Which will go down as the worse Microsoft OS release?

Vista or ME?

ME, in my opinion, because it wasn't even a blip on the radar.

That's not even a real question. ME was just a temporary holdover on the way to XP.

Home users were pissed that Windows 2000 came out for businesses, and they wanted the same level of stability in a home OS. Microsoft took windows 98 and threw it on top of the Win2K kernel (a very loose description, I know), and called it Windows Millenium.

It was garbage, riddled with bugs and a knee-jerk reaction to the public's demand for business-level stability in an entertainment-centric home OS.

A year or two later, we got Windows XP.

Comparing Vista to ME as valid operating systems, is like comparing a car to walking as valid methods of cross-country travel.

ME.. what a piece of garbage that was. Terrible OS.

I actually find Vista to be ok.. I have had it running since September and haven't had any significant problems. Maybe the bar was set so low by all the Vista complaints that anything short of ME type OS would have impressed me.
