They all suck, but the worst is south center. It used to be good, but is becoming more like deerfoot (2nd worst in my books) or sunridge (3rd worst)
I guess Chinook, the mall downtown and Market mall are the 3 better ones, but none of them are spectacular.

I avoid malls, but I also avoid people who use the word, "dewdz". Coincidence? Not according to this thread.

I would say Market Mall. I like all the stores being on one level, makes shopping much easier. Since its not too close to the C-Train line, you also dont find it too crowded with high school kids.

God, I hate malls. The lighting kills my eyes and the perfume and cologne of so many people ends up killing my head.

Calgary malls are a joke. Yet every weekend I have at least one friend who says, "I'm going to Calgary for shopping!" Okay you do that... I'll save even more money by shopping online and not have to deal with driving 2 hours for no reason.
I haven't been to the that huge new one on the north of town, though.

Market Mall has always been my "home" mall, I remember it back when I was like 4 or 5. However I have to give a big shout out to the renovated Core mall downtown, the work is still going (Devonian Gardens not done yet, more shops to come) but you will not find a better looking place to do your shopping in Calgary:

Wow is that ever nice. I only go downtown about once a year and to the mall there maybe once every five years. Looks like it'd be worth the trip though.

Downtown is great. Way fewer people, free or cheap parking on evenings and weekends (other malls are also free, obviously, but the parking lots are gong shows). Lots of dining options too (not in the mall, but nearby). As Bigtime said, they are still waiting on a few stores to open up though.

I find it weird that out of every big city I have ever been in, Calgary is the only one that doesn't seem to have a big Downtown atmosphere.

Huh? Please explain. Of all the big cities I've ever been to, Calgary's Downtown has been by far the best - so much so that I think it's one of the few things that sets Calgary apart. I'm not trying to put you down, I'm honestly curious what you think Calgary lacks. Perhaps crime?

When you say downtown do you mean the CBD (Central Business District) or surrounding areas that have more residential/retail (like the Beltline)? Most cities CBD's are pretty quiet after business hours, with exceptions like Stephen Avenue and Eau Claire as pockets of activity in the off hours.

How about people downtown after office hours? We have one of the sparest populated downtown cores for cities our size in NA IIRC. Too much sprawl in this city.
