Calling Roman Cechmanek....anyone seen him lately? Leafs climbed back into this one, moving within one goal with 2:05 left to go before giving up a pair in the final minute of the game to go down. That's THREE goals given up in the last minute of play in these two playoff games. Four if you count the OT winner last game.

Positives: Leafs played a disciplined game, taking just a single penalty shortly after going down 4-1. Climbed back from that 4-1 deficit to make things 4-3. Second line put together another solid effort.

Negatives: Cechmanek needs to play better. First line stunk it up defensively again. Most of our players' plus/minuses. Hurme let in the only shot he faced. Gave up in the last minute. Need I say more? We're down 2-0.

Habs 4 - Rangers 3

Rangers once again carried the play. Outshooting the Habs 15-7 in the first period and overall 34-28 but the Habs big players won the game. The difference was the Habs getting away with a tie score after getting badly outshot in the first. In the third, the Habs picked up their play and scored two goals 22 seconds apart to take the lead. Steve Rucchin for the Rangers scored a nice goal to tie the game with a litttle more than 5 minutes to go in the game. Only to see Samuelsson score the winner with 2 minutes to go. So far Rangers goalie has not played well. Hopefully his play will pick up. Rangers still believe this will be a long and nasty series.

On another note Rangers are dissappointed that Alexei Zhamnov was not suspended. He clearly intended to injury Bryan McCabe. McCabe was hit by Zhamnov's stick and had to leave the game only 30 seconds into the third period. Management will not say if McCabe will dress for the next game.

Game Stars

1 - Mike Modano (MTL)
2 - Ray Whitney (RAN)
3 - Jose Theodore (MTL)

Senators take Game 2

Big game from the 2nd line today.

Shawn Bates has 1G and 2 A and was +3 and named the Games first star.
Havlat had a 1 G and 3 A for 4 points was +3 and named the Games 2nd Star
Daniel Alfredsson had 1G and 1 A was +2 and named the Games 3rd Star.

The Game saw the Senators go up 3-0 before the leafs scored in the 3rd. We then went up 4-1 before the leafs scored 2 quick ones to pull within 1

Ed Jovanovski scored the Insurance goal in the final minute. His 4th of the Playoffs. Enter Poor Hurme. Just to make sure he knows whats facing him should he make another apearance Daniel Alfredsson puts his 2nd of the post season by him.

Now its on the road to Leaf Land where we hope to take a comanding 3-0 lead in the Series.

Wow. The Rangers/Habs and Bruins/Canes series have both lived up to their billing so far. Two very very good teams are going to be heading home after the first round.

The Bruins got back to playing thier game today. More shots, 100% PK, and a PP goal just for the hell of it. It was a tough game for the Bruins third line, they were an uncharacteristic -1, but the 2 goals from Kovalchuk made up for it.

Game Stars

1 - Ilya Kovalchuk (BRU)
2 - Brian Rolston (HUR)
3 - Kip Miller (HUR)

More good news is that everyone is healthy on the Bruins front. All 100 CONs. SHould be another good game Thursday.

Doesn’t Matter, Boston Still Sucks

What seemed like a good start when Brian Rolston opened up the scoring midway through the first period quickly went sour. The Bruins lead by a two goal effort by Ilya Kovalchuk finished up the second period leading the Hurricanes by a 3 – 1 margin.

Once again Rolston opened up the scoring this time in the 3rd to also have Boston answer quickly back. “It didn’t mater what we did tonight” commented Rolston after the game “every time we gained momentum they would get a lucky break that would find the back of the net” Although dropping tonight’s game to the Bruins the dressing room mood was very positive and focused on Thursday’s match up in Boston. “We know their luck isn’t going to hold up all series, we have to keep playing out game and sooner or later we’ll be on the good end of these bounces” said the newest Hurricanes Mike Ricci.
