Empire Strikes Back director Irvin Kershner died at his home in Paris after suffering from illness. . . He was 87.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, he lamented that he should have directed one of the Star Wars prequels.

Was at the helm of the best movie in the original trilogy, the biggest difference was that Irvin actually had dialogue that didn't need to sound forced.

Too bad Luca's influence started screwing up Return and ultimately really screwed up all the prequels.
