Online Courses - Where to go?

Has anyone had any experience with any Online Learning websites NOT run by an accredited school? I'm looking at taking any number of courses in graphic design and technical writing, but they are purely for personal interest. I've come across a few sites offering courses and they are much cheaper than University/College online courses.

Anyone have any good experiences with this sort of thing? Can you direct me to some legit sites?
