Default The West Wing (TV show) President has Something in Common with Us...

So I'm watching the whole series of The West Wing from start to finish, and I'm currently on episode 4 of season 4. Check out who the President is watching on TV.

all that tells me is that NBC was too cheap to shell out for the NFL footage

That's neat. Loved that show, and I love it just a little more now because of that clip.

Man, you'd think the President would spring for HD T.V., its not like he's paying the cable bill.

you know what's annoying me about the BoA going on in the background?

What's the score? (It's also odd not to see station identification logo anywhere on the screen, why not put NBC's logo and screen icons up?)

I wonder if you can hear Glenn Suitor talking about the RoughRiders in the background.

US shows do this all the time to avoid paying the massive amount of $$ that the NFL demands.

Riders-Stamps were featured in a Sopranos episode when they were watching "NFL" on thanksgiving or xmas.

There was also an old Columbo episode that featured the Eskimos vs the Riders.

It's actually the CFL's second biggest source of revenue behind ticket sales.

Selling footage to TV studios to use as props?

I bet he is (any reason to bash the CFL for some people...), I kinda doubt these shows pay the CFL $20 million in a year to have it on in the background. That would be impressive though

Yes it was a joke. And no it wasn't to bash the CFL, contrary to my long long history of CFL bashing on this forum.

The only real ode to the CFL seen on American TV was Kramer's choice only to watch Canadian Football. And what a beautiful ode it was.

One time on the Simpsons Homer was watching something like "round 17 of the Canadian Footbal League draft".

He watches the CFL draft instead of going to Flanders' for a BBQ in When Flanders Failed.

Sportcaster 1: "And so, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who scored only four rogues all last season Zack....(fades out)....

I was watching the first season of "The League" (FX show about a bunch of guys and their fantasy NFL season), and found it pretty awesome when a guy drafted Joffrey Reynolds in the first round.
