Default Windows 7: Libraries on the right side of the Start Menu?

Has anyone found a way to add a Libraries link to the right side of the Start Menu yet?

Edit: Nm. I'll just search for it in the Start Menu, it's faster than clicking anyway. It's almost as good as Spotlight, actually.

Because Microsoft's archaic software still manages to remain competitive with Apple's latest and greatest.

I had Windows ME in the early 2000's, what a mistake that was.

Is there a way to control the search results in the Start Menu?

When you use Spotlight (the Mac equivalent) to search for an app, the results are organized by how often you use the app. In other words, if you start typing "Fi" into Spotlight to search for Firefox, your results will have Firefox listed on top of FileMaker even though it's below FileMaker in an alphabetical sense (provided you use FireFox more often, of course).

When I do the same in Windows, by searching the Start Menu for Notepad++, it places Notepad on top... meaning I can't just type "Not" and hit the enter key right away to start up Notepad++...

Anyway, long story short... The only way I can see to get Notepad++ appear on top of Notepad in the results is to either delete the Notepad shortcut, or rename Notepad++ to something that isn't similar to anything else in my Start Menu.

Is there a setting for this that I've missed somewhere?

I use both Mac and Windows. I always have.

I really don't want this to become another "one vs the other" thread though. It's just that I use Spotlight on the Mac to launch everything I do. My dock has almost nothing in it, just Finder and some Stacks... It's much faster for me to hit cmd+space and then type "Fi"+enter for FireFox, than it is to point and click on an icon for it. I'd really like to be able to do the same for the Start Menu search in Windows, but I'm having trouble trusting the search results enough to use it with enough speed to make it an advantage.

No, that's cool, I wasn't intending to start any fanboy crap.

Check out this search doc - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

You sound like a good candidate for Quicksilver on the Mac, based on your personal workflow for launching apps. Have you looked at Quicksilver at all? I have no experience with it, but it sounds right up your alley

Quicksilver is so much better than spotlight in my opinion. So much more powerful.

You know, I still have no clue about what Quicksilver can do...

Edit: Ok, I read through their site briefly... Lemme see if I get it.

Let's say I'm a shop owner, and I've just designed a new flyer called "August Sale" that I want to email to the printers. Would I be able to...

- Hit cmd+space to bring up Spotlight
- Type "aug" to find my August Sale pdf
- Hit tab to bring up an action menu
- Type "ema" and then enter to have a new email message with that file attached pop up?

(of course, partial word searches can be more or less characters as needed... maybe it's "augu" or even just "au" to find the right file)
