I've done exactly that, but found it about a year later in my vehicle. I think it came off in my glove, and then fell out of that.

Also knocked it off the counter, bounce on the floor a couple of times, and then down the heat venting. Had to go through ceiling below.

Will a metal detector even find non-ferrous metals?

Well, that's a disappointing explanation, considering the source.

Obvious cover story. I'm not sure that there is much metal to detect in a PVC or rubber pipe with water inside.

You can use a coat hanger to find water lines. Bend it, hold it in your finger, and the coat hanger will find it. I'm serious. Sort of. I've seen people do it, but I haven't been able to get it to work for myself.

Or, can't you just call Alberta 1 Call? It's a free service.

You're not supposed to smoke the whole thing, share it out and this won't happen to you anymore.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they don't even put tracer wire on the water service pipes most of the time, if at all. If they do, it probably doesn't stay intact very well.

You speak of the art of dowsing, aka "witching" using "witching wire."

Just call Alberta 1 Call, OP.

well the line is copper ken

and witching won't help as I already had it marked

and I did use alberta 1 call the marked where it comes into my yard in the alley.

we thought that my grounding rod might have hit the line, so we were digging there, hole kept filling with water. So we were having trouble locating it in that hole.

and it got too costly to eff around in my 10' deep mud hole for days lol.

decided to continue with the original plan to just run a new line all together.
