Ok, so this guy applies as a forklift operator, doesn't get his references checked or anything. Sure, that's a neat, legitimate story.

Setting fake bombs around the Olympic Stadium? That's just ######ed.

He said he left packages containing fake bomb components around the Olympic stadium and that they weren't detected by security officials.

Maybe the reason they weren't detected was because they were fake. I would hardly call this an extensive security audit of the Athens games. Just one reporter trying to make a splash.

Man, that is some responsible journalism.

It seems most people view these kinds of journalist capers as an abuse of the process. But I would rather see a reporter exposing security flaws as opposed to someone bent on malice.

It's not just the fake bombs, it's how this guy was able to slip under the radar. His employers didn't perform an adequate background check. It shows that anyone with a little talent could infiltrate the system.

It would have been real sweet if the security would have found the packages and thought they were explosive. Probably would have shut down half of Athens of a day, completly screwed the olympic program, and would have thrown the city into turmoil, all because this jackass thinks he is the head of WORLDWIDE security.

Why doesnt this moron go plant some fake bombs around his house, see if the wife and kids are ready for terrorist plots................

So it's OK for some terrorist or nutbar to plant bombs to explose security flaws, but if a reporter does it he's a jackass?

You don't have to like this style of journalism, but it's effective. We're talking about it. And that's what his editors were hoping.

no seroisly though what IF they DID find those packages???

It would have screwed a day of olympics, and put everyone on edge for the ENTIRE games, for no good reason.

Sometimes this style of journalism is okay, but around olympic stadium during the biggest sporting event in the world, not nearly the right time.

The packages were planted before the games began. I don't think this guy intended to disrupt any of the events. If that happened, then that's going too far.

I think security's biggest concern isn't the packages, it's how this guy was able to slip past security and was hired in the first place.
