tech forum
I know that creating a new forum is not taken lightly around here, but is there anything that can be done with the tech forum being dominated by Apple threads? Aside form the fact that they are all flame wars between the same 10 people in every thread, it makes it hard to keep track of other threads because the Apple ones are all over the place. I know in the fall a lot of times NHLxx can often generate lots of threads, but that is temporary; this seems to only be getting worse. There was the megathread, but judging by the more 'minor' threads that are popping up, I assume that really isn't going to work either.
Just wanted to see what others thoughts were. Maybe I am the one out to lunch on this one. And just for informational purposes, at the time of writing, 8 of the 20 threads on the first page are Apple or iProduct related.

There are 7 Apple-related threads on the front page:
Thread #1: Created July 16th, 2008 - iPhone App Discussion
Thread #2: Created July 19th, 2008 - General AppleTV Discussion
Thread #3: Created January 18th, 2010 - General iPad Discussion
Thread #4: Created April 17th, 2010 - iPhone Leak Discussion
Thread #5: Created May 21st, 2010 - Jailbreak Discussion
Thread #6: Created May 25th, 2010 - Back to School Promo
Thread #7: Created May 26th, 2010 - Apple Passes Microsoft in Market Cap
Two threads that are 2 years old, one that is 6 months old, another that is 2 months old, one more that is 5 days old and 2 in the last 2 days.

I counted 10 when I checked... Half of the first page is strictly Apple items. If there's that much interest in the specific subject then, IMO, it should have it's own subforum dedicated to it.

I guess that means that everything gets solved quickly and easily in the PC world; and we don't have to spend months trying to figure out how everything works.
Seriously, as a PC user I would probably never go into the Mac forum; but being a tech person it's good for me to have the threads right there so I know what is going on in that world.

Reason: I decided that my "Mac Fan Boys" comment was over the line.

thats kinda how i have always treated it, but i guess what prompted me to post was that the tech forum is always plastered with these threads and it can make it harder to find other threads. and i guess i felt like why should it be so hard to find other news when its only like 10 people participating in the apple stuff anyways. it just seems as if the tech forum has been taken over by a very small yet very vocal minority.
once again, i could be making a mountain out of a molehill, but hopefully that gives a little more insight into the thought process i had.

If it is only '10 people' in these threads, why don't the rest of you created your own active threads. I really don't see the issue with an active message board community.

Had an idea!

I have no problem with it.
Relevant threads are usually on the top anyways, and talking about Apple, even if we just bash fanbois is fun too.

Hey, there's an idea...
Apple subforum with instant bans for people who still go into the extra subforum just to troll Apple threads!
(Muwahaha...)

Another vote for an apple subforum. It's always at the top of the tech talk forum.

If they just banned Fanin80, those threads wouldn't be stuck at the top all the time.

I could see a need for this if 'other' threads were getting bumped off the front page before people had a chance to see them, but there's a full two-day spread between the topmost thread and the one at the bottom of page one. Come on guys.

Well I fata'd this thread, so I am going to post here and put my vote in for an Apple Sub Forum.
I like to see new developments stay at the top, like CES 2010 and NHL 11 etc etc... not just "hey what apps do you have" or "omg microsuck copies apple" or whatever.
It seems like the apple people like to talk to other apple people, and the people who arent into it just get annoyed by it. Almost like twihards... we should call them itards!!!
JK... but seriously... it is annoying having so many threads about the same brand at the top of the tech forum. Good threads about other things just get pumped to the bottom all the time.
Vote. Thanks.
