Getting an iPhone in a couple hours. anyone want to talk me out of it?
I'm having mixed feelings about getting an iPhone and I'm not sure why. Is this normal?
Anyone have any advice for which network to go with out on the west coast - Vancouver, Victoria and the island?
Is there a better alternative to the iPhone? The Motorola Milestone looks pretty good - anyone have it? http://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/m...ne/index.shtml
Thanks for any advice.
This thread is dumb and I'm sorry to anyone who is offended by it

If you can afford to wait until June to get a new phone, I would wait as there are rumours of a new iPhone coming then.

That being said, I quite like my 3G.

Had mine for three months. Can't think of any reason to talk you out of it.

something else haha

I have the original - got it when it 1st came out. I can't see myself ever getting anything else because I use it so much. I have played with a few other smart phones and the browser on the iPhone has no other phone can compete with it.

Thanks guys. On the one hand I'm really excited to get one, on the other I feel like I'm being a sucker and there is something out there that is way better but less hyped.
Until recently I had a work supplied Blackberry and it did everything I wanted. But the apps and internet on the iPhone look way better than anything Blackberry is offering right now.
One other thing. How much data are you guys using? I doubt I'll do a lot of youtube or other streaming video... no facebook, twitter or anything like that. I might stream the Fan quite abit now that I think of it.

I love my iPhone. I can't see how anything could be way better. I don't mean that as putting down other phones. The iPhone meets my want of having the internet at my finger tips.

A few hundred MB a month on moderate data useage.
If it were me today I would wait a few months to see if a new one comes out in the summer, then you can either get the latest and greatest or you can get someone's old one for cheaper.
Other than that still the best phone out there I think, though a few friends really like their Android phones, but they're wireheads and like writing their own apps for it.

I got a 3GS less than 2 weeks ago.
I looked at the Milestone, but the only thing that it had going for it was the slide out keypad, but once I had it in my hands, it didn't really impress me.
I am the furthest thing from an Apple fanboy as you can find, but so far, I love the thing. My only complaint is with getting used to the keypad for making calls, but that's minor.
I have mine with Virgin, who has the cheapest plan I could find. $50 a month for 150 anytime minutes; free evening and weekends starting at 7; 500MB of data; plus call display and voice mail. Telus, Bell, and Rogers all have similar deals, but Virgin's included more minutes, an earlier "evening", and no activation fee. I have a wireless network at home, so I hardly use any data off the network. I've had it for 2 weeks and haven't even used 50MB yet, so I won't even come close to 500MB in a month.

Well I'm the proud new owner of a black 32gig 3GS iPhone. Thanks for the quick responses. I have a bunch of questions about this thing but I'll ask them in the more appropriate iPhone threads that are already going.

My tip is, when you are browsing porn in the can, don't drop it in the toilet.

No, but there is this lady at work who is on her second smart phone since I started there, and third in a year. All of which died from toilet water. Since my Twitter usage is split between the can and the bus, I am always extra careful that I don't stand up until the phone is in the case.

Congratulations on your iPhone purchase. There's this sweet app you should get. If only I could remember the name.

I have done the hard reset thing, and it seems to work. Maybe you have a million apps on the phone that's hogging resources?

I ain't talking you outta it, nope. The iPhone really is quite nice. Currently waiting for either my iPod or Crackberry to die so that I can justify buying one.
Now, if you become an iHole and spout on about Apple's supposed superiority.....there's gonna be trouble!

haha...your app is the first one I'm going to buy!
quick question. Is using a credit card the only way to buy apps? I noticed those itunes cards you can buy at 7/11 etc. can't be used in the app store.

Wait until June for iPhone 4 is my advice. Unless you go contract-less and upgrade in 3 months.

Million apps that aren't able to run in an environment together because there's no multitasking?
I'm starting to think that Apple is intentionally making the 3G model slower and slower to try to get people to upgrade to the next version continuously.
