Default Anyone actually familiar with the customer of size rules on US Airlines?

So this Kevin Smith thing got me thinking because i've booking a stag to San Diego and was thinking of using an American Airline.

A couple of my buddies are pretty big guys. Not morbidly obese, but not small men by any stretch of the imagination as they are ex-football players. If I had to venture, i'd say about 6'0 280 pounds. Is this policy strictly enforced? I know they would pass the "arm rest test", but I'm still a little worried. Are we talking extremely fat people (Kevin Smith deosn't strike me as exxtremely fat), or is this something I should be worried about and maybe consider paying the extra for Air Canada?

Kevin Smith is pretty fat nowadays. I wouldn't worry about it.

It seems to be a rather arbitrary rule, basically a judgment call by the flight crew.

That's what really fat people do, wear baggy clothing, "Well I'm really fat, but if I wear a tent people will not be able to tell that I fill the whole damn thing."

Here's a simple solution. Invite me to join you. U.S. airlines don't seem to have second thoughts about putting an extremely large person on either side of me most times I fly.

Best part is.. they are always chatty!!!

God save the people that invented Gin and iPods.
