Default Babcock's Lines

It's Crosby with Nash and Bergeron.

Iginla will play with Toews and Morrow.

The other two lines were as expected (Sharks line and Getzlaf centering Perry and Staal).

Richards is the 13th forward.

I'm surprised Babcock hasn't gone with more of a checking line for his 4th unit. But, it's still early.

Some surprises on defence, as Pronger and Nieds were not paired.

Toews and iginla FTW. I really like Toews. I have a feeling him and Iginla are gonna rip it up together.

That's not a surprise at all. In fact, the pairings are the exact same as what was predicted coming out of the summer orientation camp, where Niedermayer and Weber showed chemistry, as did Pronger and Boyle.

It's also a reason Bouwmeester was left off; the coaching staff wanted a right shot on every D pairing, and Pronger, Niedermayer, and Keith were chosen over Bouwmeester.

bah

I don't like Jarome on an energy line. I want to see him with Crosby.

I'm not too upset because I don't think that Bergeron lasts too long on that #1 line.

No kidding, screw Bergeron.

Big talent difference between Nash-Crosby and Morrow-Toews.

Considering that Canada only has two left handed shooting defenceman, it really doesn't make a lot of sense to play the two of them together.

Its funny, nobody is really talking about Iginla except calgary people, all the analysts have him slotted on the "4th" line. He has kind of been an after thought.

Everybody is talking about Crosby, Getzlaf, Nash, the SJ line and so on.

Iginla is the most senior forward on the team. He is the only forward that won gold in 2002 and despite what some people around here think, when the chips are down he still has that big game ability. He can still dominate and dictate a game.

Before this thing is over I think Team Canada will need Jarome Iginla more than some people realize.

Who?

Pronger, Neidermayer and Keith are all Left handed

Weber, Boyle, Doughty and Seabrook are right handed

Iginla's stats aren't that different than Nash's.

The guy is clutch and he'll be the Shanahan of this year's team.

My bad, for some reason I forgot Keith was left handed....not that it matters, he's playing with Seabrook who is a right handed guy. Leaves Pronger and Niedermayer to be paired with other right handed guys.

yeah it's interesting , Iginla is struggling this year, but only Marleau, Heatley, Crosby and Nash with more goals amongst Team Canada Forwards this year

I like Bergeron fine, but it is incredible that a guy can not be on their radar to make the team at training camp, put up a Daymond Langkowesque 12 goals and -1 and find himself onto the first line.

Anyways Toews is a great player so I hope Iginla and him can get something going

Thinking the same thing.

All the talking heads on TSN/SNet/CTV mentioned every NHL forward other then Morrow and Iginla on their 3 minute synopsis of today's practice.

There's a reason he has an "A", and Iginla and his experience are likely to be one of the most consistent forwards and likely to move up in the pecking order as the tournament goes on...more vital then anyone's currently given credit for.

i'm perfectly fine with Iginla not getting any credit. for years he's been hyped as one of the best players and captains in the league, but he hasn't led his team anywhere since the lockout and his numbers for the past couple of years have been sub-par. now all the media attention is off of him and if he wants to get it back, he'll have to earn it

Yeah, his numbers have been brutal. 30+ Goals and 60+ points in each year since the lockout. What a pedestrian, borderline NHLer. Do you even read what you post?

Since the beginning of 2008/2009 and including the 2009/2010 season so far, not a single team Canada winger (including Toews, Staal, Morrow and Richards) has a higher PPG than Iginla. Looking farther back since the lockout, only Heatley has a higher PPG than Iginla. Iginla being on the line he is has nothing to do with numbers.

You guys are all idiots.

Bergeron scored 116 points in the previous three seasons. Iginla has only averaged 94 points during that same span.

116>94

It is simple math, idiots. Bergeron deserves to be on that top line.

This post is a god damn joke.

What in the holy hell says that Iginla getting paired with Morrow and Toews means he is not getting "any credit". What does that even mean? You think Babcock is trying to send a message to Iginla? The guy is playing for TEAM CANADA at the Olympics, wears an "A", he's probably wearing the "C" if Neidermeyer wasn't on the team, and somehow he is not getting credit. Credit for what exactly? Being one of, if not THE most, consistent forwards in the NHL over the last decade then yes, I'll gladly give him credit for that.

If you spend one second in Vancouver you would immediately notice about 50 Iginla Team Canada jerseys around the city about every hour or so. How many Canucks fans I talk to are saying they are so happy they can finally cheer for Iginla, because they tell me repeatedly that he is an ideal representation of Canadian Hockey and Canada itself.

What more does this guy have to do? You are completely spoiled to have had such an awesome person represent Calgary for so many years, contribute SO much to the community, perform season after season after season. If he was scoring like Ovechkin, passing like Crosby, fighting like Iginla, battling like Toews would you be happy then?

Number have been sub par? 8th in the the NHL in points last season, 22nd this season so far, sandwiched amongst other nobodies like Nash, Getzlaf and Lecavalier.

If there is anyone besides Neidermeyer, Crosby or Brodeur who doesn't have to "earn it" it's Iginla. Do you know how many other players in the league that are older than Iginla and have more points than him right now? 1. The guy has to earn absolutely nothing in my books and was one the biggest locks for the team in the first place. He only scored the most important goals leading team Canada to its first gold medal in the Olympics in FIFTY YEARS!

I'm sorry for the rant but really, give me a break.

We have been waiting over 2 months for Iggy to show us the "next gear, leadership"
and we are all banging our heads against the wall wondering where it is.

If he couldn't elevate when the season is crumbling, what evidence do we have that it will suddenly appear at the Olympics? The last Olympic team needed his leadership then and I can't recall anything from him then either. He just played like the same guy we see today, he just quietly dissapeared.
