Default Bobcats have taken over our backyard

Anyone ever had this happen before?

We had our old furniture under our patio, as we're waiting to take some things to the dump. There was already a picnic table there and few other things, so it was a perfect little spot for them to hang out.

The mom and kid are under the picnic table, and the (presumably) dad has actually gone up on top of our shed in the corner of the yard, and he just watches over the entire yard.

They're actually quite big when you see them up this close (The one was almost as tall as the picnic table when it got up).

It's really cool to see though, as we can stand at our patio door and watch them from about 4 feet away. You don't get a lot of opportunities like that, especially in the city.

Pics to come...

So is this like a permanent living arrangement? Just you and those crazy cats outside.

Do you have kids or small pets?

I dunno... something off about your post. You don't seem too concerned that there is a family of ferocious cats chillin' in your yard..

Catch the baby and tame it. I'll give you $10 for a bobcat kitten.

We have 2 cats, who have now become indoor cats for the time being.

Basically we have two organizations contemplating the best course of action right now. So for now we have a little mini zoo in our backyard until further notice.

It's likely they were just looking for somewhere to settle down with the little one for a bit, and then they will likely move on, probably back to fish creek.

They actually haven't really moved much since they got here. The dad has been perched on top of the shed the entire time, and the mom just kind of stares into our patio window most of the time.

I'll give you a thousand if you can tame it into something I can ride around as a mount.

And I shall call him... Battle Cat.

at your smaller, delicious looking cats. That's pretty interesting though, good luck.

You should grab a broom and try and "shoo" them.

There's also a few video's of when they were up and moving a little bit (which was pretty rare, they were usually just stationary).

And here I thought you neighbors landscapers were going crazy in your backyard too.

We were told mostly squirrels and smaller animals, but we were also warned that unlike the Canadian Linx, who will do anything to get away from humans, Bobcats are not afraid to stand up to you and attack.

I took a couple steps outside my back door earlier today and the dad took notice immediatly and looked ready for a confrontation, so I quickly went back inside.

I would love to have a family of animals living in my backyard myself. The closest I've ever had was a Robin's Nest.

I wonder how animals manage to survive brutal Calgary winters. I hardly manage to survive myself!!!

I can sort this problem out for you for about $0.30/cat.

Yeah, it's been really cool, it's basically like having your own little zoo exhibit right outside your dining room. These things are awesome to look at up close, and are quite intimidating when they are up on all fours.

I'm going to try and get some more pics up and maybe the videos, too, but I'm having a little trouble right now.
