I have had to take some "Chillout" sessions myself... I used a shrink most of the time, but heard they have free access at the UofC... Psych students getting "practise" being watched by an instructor... worth checking out I think

1. punch holes in wall
2. bandage knuckles
3. go to Rona and buy ready mix joint compound, tape, trowel, piece of drywall, sanding sponge, screws
4. steal a couple of surveyors stakes on your way home
5. google "how to fix punch holes in drywall"
6. fix walls
You have now achieved two things: you're no longer mad, and you know how to patch drywall.

Check with your employer. Some offer an "Employee assistance" program that will give free confidential referals to psychiatric help.

Talk to your family doctor. I have had a few issues in my time where I thought I was ready for the loony bin, and a 1/2 hour conversation with him tended to make me feel a lot better. Sometimes its just getting it out to someone that will listen and not judge. I think it is because you can open up to your doctor about anything. The dude/dudette has seen your balls, probably stuck a finger in your butt, and knows all of your secrets anyway, so the barriers tend to be pretty transparent with them. Also most family doctors tend to have a pretty basic knowledge of phyciatric issues. Just book yourself in for a referral visit, and sit down and talk. He will need to know whats going on to refer you to a shrink anyway. Just my two cents on the matter.

Its amazing how substance abuse is the default fall-back in situations like this.
I'm no exception, hell one of my tried and true stress killers is a bottle of Scotch and a few Cigars, but still...
Hey man, good luck, get better, and if you have to kill someone try and get to Edmonton first, you'll be doing them a favour.

an excellent organization..they base what u pay on what u earn..or what you say you can affford..they are councellors in training..not graduated yet..but knowledgeable councellors..i used them a few years back and really liked them..and if u get someone u dont like u just ask to switch

They work on a sliding fee schedule. You pay what you can afford.
I've used them in the past and the staff is great. Helped me deal with some personal issues.

Doctors really hate when people come to the them for councelling..but they dont mind recommending where to go for help. My Dr. told me she gets people come and tell her their problems..and shes not a shrink and its a waste of health care money! but do go if its to get a recommendation..also ..another place you can go is to the South Calgary Health place on Mcleod by Shawnessy..my dr. told me about that place.......u dont need an appointment either
