Default More (potential) wastes of space

I didn't see a thread on this but perhaps I missed it.

Big news down here in MIssouri about this family that is being accused of simply horrific crimes. Innocent until proven guilty and all but this is building to the point where their seems to be unrelated victims coming to forefront to corroborate stories from the original victims (family members). The original allegations dealt with child abuse and the evidence the victims said would be found were jars of paper. The kids were told to write down their bad thoughts/fears (thanks to the abuse) put them in a jar and bury them so that they would go away.

Beyond the allegations of original victims which were bad enough information is being released that the accused kidnapped a guy and had the kids kill him and bury him, imprisonment and rape of another kid and murder of a baby she had as a result of the rape. 6 arrests so far and numerous charges.

Truly horrendous stuff. If true, there isn't a punishment hellish enough for these "people".

Sounds like that family from the Texas Chainsaw massacre or something. The fact that people like this actually exist is sickening and frightening.

more charges laid. I won't quote anything from the story as even the limited details of the case are truly sickening.

What seems even more remarkable is the family support the accused are getting right now. Makes one wonder how far into the extended family this abuse and how many abusers there were.

Just to toss this out there, a lot of research has shown that it's pretty easy to create false childhood memories. Even in groups. None of those news articles seem to indicate that any physical evidence has been found. So until that evidence is found, it's probably worth keeping in mind that allegations like this have been proven false in the past.

Just do a search on "false childhood memories" and see what comes up.

I think law enforcement knows those things and when they start piling up charges it's because they have evidence to back it up.

But you are correct that right now the accused are innocent until proven guilty and there can be false accusations/memories (even if the accusers don't know they are false). Unfortunately the real cases and real accusations far outweigh the accusations that stem from created memories.

Until the investigation is quite a bit older and they start wrapping things up they also won't talk about the evidence they have. Especially if the crimes are far reaching and they are looking for more perpetrators and victims. They will keep many key pieces of evidence secret to prove or disprove anyone coming forward. At the very least one of the accused seems to have had a child porn collection.
