Bell: Stretched Out
Has anyone else's Bell reciever stretched the picture out lately. My picture was perfect a few days ago, now, by no fault of my own, it's stretched out another 10%-ish. On the Global HD channels, I can read "Global", but I can't see the arrow.
Anyone else gettin this? I have tried to adjust the picture on the TV with no luck. I've tried to change the settings on my reciever too. Nadda.
Not sure what to do.

They must be doing a lot of updates for the channel change or something, because I have been experiencing weird stuff lately as well.
A couple of days ago, the menu was tiny and just sort of floating over top of the picture. Yesterday, the PVR just sort of froze up and rebooted by itself.
I would leave it over night before calling them and hope it fixes itself. Maybe try power cycling it?

That happened to me yesterday too, coincidentally. It was right at the end of the Yankees game and during the Flames game ... very annoying.

Should have thought about the aspect ratio button (the star) as my kid does that to me daily!

LOL I can't even count the number of times I get a phone call from my mom a year. "My picture went all weird what button do I hit again?"
Also the "SWAP" button is also probably one of the most under used but most useful buttons on a Dual tuner receiver.

Ok- what is that supposed to do? Mine doesn't seem to do anything.
9242 receivers in dual mode.

You're doing it wrong.
Are you recording anything? If not change the channel to 850, then hit swap and hit 848. Now when you hit swap do you get the two different channels? Almost like last channel but a quicker switch?
I really don't know how I am going to explain it, it is hard enough in person but I will try. Let me know if that works above and I will explain the rest and hopefully make sense of it. It is truly the best feature once you get it down.
edit: Thinking about it further you may have to be a single TV mode.

Glad you got it fixed, but come on man...clicker?? Its a remote control. Remote or control for short.

I`m not home now but if I remember right, on a PVR clicking on PVR (button on top of PVR functions circle) twice will bring up your schedule, another handy shortcut.
man Ģi hate trying to type on my first .laptop

No Kidding????
Wow, I would have thought it is the most commonly used button.
I use mine so much that my default hand position on the remote is my thumb on swap, and my index finger up and across on the cancel button. I can swap tuners and cancel the information overlay instantly. It is the only way to toggle sporting events - and honestly, who doesnt swap to another game at stops or on commercials???
You can expand that to 4 games pretty easy if youre willing to wait for the recall channel change. Each tuner remembers its own recall.
The other buttons I use alot are skip forward 30 seconds and skip back 5 seconds. These two buttons are enough of a reason why I could never trade my Bell receiver for a Shaw one. Each commercial skip takes about 3 seconds ... skip forward till the show starts, then back once or twice till the end of the last commercial. I could never ever deal with the hassle of fastforwarding and rewinding commercials like you have to with shaw.

Now let me ask you. Did you know you could pause one tuner, hit swap and watch the other channel live or behind time while the other one is still paused?
Then you can hit swap again and your previous tuner that was paused will stay that way for an hour.
This is how I use to watch Golf/Football on Sundays.
For example: I would pause Golf (tuner 1) and then hit swap and watch the Football game (tuner 2). Once I was live on football and I'm watching commercials I will pause the football game, hit swap, then hit play on the Golf. So now I could skip through commercials in the Golf. Once I'm live in Golf I hit pause, hit swap, and catch up live to the football game.
Usually I will let the first paused game/show go for 20-30minutes before pausing the second game/show to flip the the first tuner.
Another trick, same idea. Let's say you are wanting to watch a live show but don't care if you are a little behind and you have something in your PVR you can watch to waste some time to get away from live TV.
So you are watching Golf on tuner 1, hit pause, hit swap. Now hit your PVR button select the show you want to watch, watch it. Now the show is over so delete/save it as normal. Once you are done hit swap again and depending on how long the show you watched on your PVR was you are now 20-40 minutes behind live TV. No commercials for a while on that 'live' event and if you plan it you can actually end up watching the last few minutes of the game, few holes of the golf watch or whatever actually live.
I hope that makes sense. And once you understand it, it is amazing. The only catch is you can't have something recording at the same time as doing this. If it doesn't make sense let me know. I just woke up.

Maybe in your house... but this is my house. Who's house? My House?
Sorry... yeah. In my house, we call it the clicker. I have no idea why.

Yep, sure did! I do it sometimes.
When I do it the most is during the NHL playoffs when all the carriers show press conferences and highlights. I can keep tabs on CBC's or The Score's post game show and watch Sportcenter's highight packs at the same time. It helps skip the commercials in the post game coverage too.
I swear, I havent watched more than a dozen commercials in over a year.

Most of the channels are already there. You can tune to most of them now.

My swap (shaw PVR) does not seem to work...every since I programmed the volume to be set to the receiver regardless of what setting the remote is on.
Any way to get it working again?
