Grrrr - I lost $7 because the CAD went up
I made an order with an American online store, they couldn't ship to me, so they refunded my money. But since the refund was USD and since the CAD went up between the time of the order and the refund, I ended up only get $72 back instead of $79. *Bashes head on desk*

I wonder how my friend feels... He just ordered a Ferrari from the States a few months ago.. I'm sure he is bashing his head a bit.

Ya, I don't feel sorry for anyone who just bought a Ferarri. If they are really worried about the small percentage of money they could save due to currency fluxuation, I don't think they should be buying a Ferarri.

You would have probably been screwed either way (although I guess more so in this case). For credit cards, the buy rate and sell rate is different in favour of the credit card company.
Within hours I bought an item at 1.08 and then had it refunded at 1.02 a few days ago. Lost $14.

What I'm actually really pissed off about is that they charged my card before they had the order to ship. And then looking at my order, they realize they can't ship and refunded me. I'd have rather they not charge until they ship. This way I wouldn't have lost any money at all.
I'm still also pissed about losing money but not having anything to show for it.

He still saved lots of money, Ferrari's in the states are way cheaper than in Canada. Some new models are 35% cheaper.

I understand that... and have been in the same boat before. But I also have been on the same end where an order was cancelled and I ended up making money on the transaction.

You might have lost 7 dollars but if you switched to Geico you could have saved a bundle on your car insurance.

Just dispute the charges with Visa. It would be especially easy if any of the ordering info or FAQ's on the website say something like your credit card will not be charged until time of shipping like amazon does. If it says credit card will be charged at time of order you are probably out of luck.
