Canon SD Powershot 1000 Delta Elph

I've had this camera for almost 2 years and everyone in a while would get a lens restart error, turn off the camera and it work fine. I tried to turn it on today and there's a long buzzing sound and then the message LENS ERROR, RESTART CAMERA. The camera does turn on briefly before shutting itself off and I can't do anything.

I have no warranty so according to Canon it will be at least $100 to fix it. So:

Does anyone know any good camera techs in Calgary? Canon now has none.

OR

Does anyone know how to fix this error or have had this problem? Thanks

Just my input from my experience with my SD 900 (great camera, which my wife accidentally threw in one of those blue recycling bins )

Canon used to have a repair center in Calgary, but it was shut down and everything goes through Ontario. You will pay one fee, but they say they will fix the problem and cover all of the shipping cost.

You have 3 months to send the camera back under the same repair (if the problem comes back), although I've sent mine back a few months longer than that.

They were pretty decent throughout the whole process. Let me know if you want more details.
