Late '70's early '80's I really liked Hall and Oates. I was around 10 at the time. When I got to high school and expanded my musical interests beyond top 40, I probably didn't think that much of Hall and Oates.
Well, I own Rock & Soul, best of Hall and Oates now. I love that stuff. Great music, especially the vocals. Particularly fond of "Sara Smile" and "She's Gone".
Any similar stories?

Dis, I was thinking about the same sort of thing today. You're the man.
Anyways, waaaaaaay back in '96-'98 I loved the Tragically Hip. Loved them. Then all of the sudden, I grew indifferent, slowly they were starting to annoy me...I think it was when Music at Work was released that I for some reason just really, didn't like them at all.
Just this past week I popped in some of the old Hip CD's into the player (Road Apples and Fully Completely) and I love 'em again.

Thanks!
I'm a big Hip fan, quite possibly the biggest one south of the border. Thank goodness there was a radio station in Kalispell willing to play them....that's how I was introduced. Anyway, Music at Work is probably my least favorite album....but the last two have been really, really good. I'm sure MMF would back me up on that. You should pick them up!

I never ever liked 80s music. I really like it now.
I used to like rap/r & b. I am not so much into that anymore.
The one thing that has always remained constant is my liking for techno music or anything with a fast beat.
I am also liking a little more rock these days.

The Doors loved them for a while, but then I started to find them a bit on the loony side (didn't really hate them) and stopped listening to them for a while, but lately I have been listening to them a hell of a lot more.
Same thing with the Hip, I was disappointed with Music at Work, but they really responded very well with their latest effort with In Between Evolution.

Neil Diamond. My mom played his music all the time. I liked it when I was a wee lad, but during my teen years hated him. About 6 years ago I dated a girl that was a huge fan of Diamond and she got me back into it. Now its all about Neil Diamond.

this should go in a 'guilty pleasures' thread
but damn, Neil Diamond...haven't heard him since my dad put on his CDs during the family road trips years ago. I told him I hated it, but secretly my foot was a-tappin' to Cracklin' Rose.

I just recently watched "The Wedding Singer" with Adam Sandler and I started to really miss that old stuff I grew up on.
Journey went something like 80's to metal to hardcore metal to metal to classical to new age to 80's/top 40......something like that.

I used to love Suicidal Tendencies back in the day. I even had my picture taken with Mike Muir at a concert in Vancouver.
Then over the years my musical tastes changed and I didn't really like them. Then just in the past few weeks I dug out my old CDs and I'm diggin' them again. Funny how that works. I'm actually listening to "Pledge Your Allegiance"right now.
"Why can't I ask any questions if what you say is true? Am I supposed to believe everything, or just everything said by you? How can you call me stupid, when you don't understand what I say? And how can you call me evil, have you spoken to God today - What did He say!?"
Lyrically, they were one of the best metal bands of the late 80s and 90s. Too bad they cheezed out so bad with their last couple of albums.

Yowsah! I'd be reluctant to hang the metal sign around their necks. I'd never describe them other than skatecore or something along those lines.
anyways, thanks for the memory jog on those guys. classic lyrics for sure on lots of their early stuff.

Agree! Journey is another band I've started to listen to again.
And The Alan Parsons Project - I just recently d/l Eye in the sky (long version) and had no idea that cool intro was apart of that song. I'm sure I've heard the Flames use it during intros.

Michael Jackson. I loved him when I was a young teenage boy and then I just didn't love him anymore. Something changed and I really hated him for a lot of years. A lot of animosity built up. But... as they say, any press is good press and all the headlines about him lately have rekindled my interest.
Really though -- I did like him when I was a kid and then I was embarassed about it. Thriller is still a good record though, I can admit that now.

80's music. Sometime in the mid to late 90's I started to hate 80's stuff. Now I love it again. We switch from day to day what we listen to at work. The local stations in Lethbridge are a bit to repetitive, so we listen to internet radio. Either CJay92 or club977.com. The latter is all 80's and it is awesome.
About Das Hips... I am probably the biggest Hip fan in Lethbridge. Music @ Work was ok, but I can see why some people didn't like it so much. For me Trouble At The Henhouse is my least favourite, even though I like more songs from TATH than M@W, I think M@W is a better album. My favorite Hip album is a tossup between Fully Completely & Phantom Power. In Between Evolution is pretty good, they're kinda going back to some formula that worked before, while still going in a new direction. In Violet Light was good, but there just wan't anything that could truly classify as a hit.

I used to listen to KISS when I was a kid, then stopped for a loooooong time, until one of my football buddies in University started playing it again. Plus a girl I picked up one night made me play "I wanna rock and roll all night" while we did the nasty! Ah good times!

It's amazing the variance between fans!
TOTH is my favorite, with Road Apples and Day for Night next in line.
Music at Work and Phantom Power are my least favorite, though I really like a couple of songs from Phantom Power.

I know of many people who got turned off of the Hip after TOTH. I liked it at first but got tired of it really quick, I'm not saying that I dislike it, I just listen to it the least of them all, but it is still in my top 10 Tragically Hip releases
I agree with you that Road Apples is another really good one. I don't know what it is about Phantom Power, but I just love it all.
