I loved it because the characters were just so loveably geeky....and some just hilarious lines in it too.
"Do you drink 1% because you think you're fat?"
It's definately not your typical slap-stick, in your face humour that you may have been expecting. I guess it's one of those movies that you either love or hate, no grey area.

I liked it, but it is a generational thing. I know a lot of people older than 30 didn't quite get it.

Absolutely loved it.
I can understand how people could not like it though. The humour is a little different than South Park and those shows.

I watched, it was pretty funny, but I agree that some would want their money back. The acting, plot etc stunk, but it was damn funny.
Where do you get one of those "Vote Pedro" shirts?

Favorite parts of the movie:
"Tina eat your dinner you fat lard"
When Napolean in riding his bike and his uncle drills him in the head with a piece of steak.
Napolean throws a orange at his uncles van, uncle lets out a women'ish 'ahhh'..stops van, gets out..Napolean drills him in the leg with another orange, gets put in headlock by uncle..elbows his uncle to break free..and than climbs fence and falls face first over it into grass. (CLASSIC)
Napolean trying to ride Pedro's bike on the ramp..oh god..hilarious!
great movie! gotta watch it more than once to really soak in the laughs!

It's definetely for two crowds - the 18-25 year old's, and/or the Monty Python champions.
I recommend to most people to NOT watch the movie, because I know they'll hate it and call it lame. I for one thought it was a brilliant movie, but I know I'm in the vast, VAST minority.

I thought it was one of the best movies of the year and imo it is a classic. The plot is stupid but the characters are what make the movie.

I think for the majority of the movies popularity came from people (not accusing the CPer's here) said it was cool because it was cool to like Napoleon Dynamite.

It definitely is a generational movie....and even then, its audience is rather narrow and directed to the hipster/ironic crowd. The regular 30+ Calgarian who works in an oil company downtown, or the frat boy football jock is probably not the person who this movie is for.

I also loved this movie. Agreed that the majority of the 30+ crowd wouldn't care for it. I found that of my crowd of people (age 20-30), probably 8 of 10 people loved it and the other 2 despised it. Like someone else said, you either love it or hate it and it seems there's no in between.

I don't think Python fans would like it much, that stuff is brilliant. This movie was plain annoying. Or maybe I'm just too old for a sense of humour now.

I'd have to go against the grain and say I'm in this grey area.
I watched it the first time, and liked it. Not loved it, just liked it. I bought it for my bro (who loves it, age 13) for christmas and when I watched it again I couldn't get through it all. Maybe it was my mood or something.
But looking at all the quotes etc., it's pretty damn hilarious. Actually, the first review I got from a friend was that it's the best movie to talk about with your friends. I'd have to agree. Pretty funny when you watch it, but when it's recited with a bunch of people who have seen it, I think that's what will make it a classic.

I'm kind of the same I guess.
I liked it, but it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen or as good as the hype around. But I thought it was decent.
I do appreciate the movie more after thinking about though. For me, it is a better movie in hindsite.
